Operation Predator

Operation Predator is a campaign mission in Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Predator, a 2010 tactical shooter developed by Virtuos and published by Ubisoft for the PlayStation Portable. Set in Sri Lanka, the mission follows the Ghosts—an elite U.S. Army special forces unit—as they hunt terrorists in jungles and bases. The player controls a squad of three Ghost soldiers from a selection of 8 characters across 5 classes (scout, support gunner, marksman, shotgunner, medic). Lore & Background

In Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Predator, the Ghosts are deployed to Sri Lanka during political instability after American mining vessel crews are massacred by unknown assailants. The team, led by Colonel Scott Mitchell, investigates with help from Mister Hisan and the Mumpuri Guard, a non-political militia protecting civilians from armed factions. The CIA identifies the People's Action Front (the Activists) as responsible for the massacre, and the Ghosts take out several Activist bases before assassinating their leader, "the Teacher." However, they are ambushed by the Loyalists, a paramilitary faction, and rescued by the Mumpuri Guard. The Ghosts later learn the CIA's informant, Dilip Khan, is a Loyalist who gave false information to trick the U.S. into killing the Teacher, allowing the Loyalists to absorb the Activists. The Ghosts capture Khan, force a confession, and use the resulting war between Activists and Loyalists as cover to rescue the kidnapped President of Sri Lanka. They discover the Loyalist leader is Sunil Ranga, the Minister of Energy, and infiltrate his mansion estate to kill or capture him, ending the hostilities.

In Their Own Story

The rain fell in sheets over the city, washing the grime from cobblestones that had seen a century of conflict. Ghost Lead crouched behind a low wall, his team spread in a silent arc behind him. The target's safehouse was a fortified apartment block, its windows dark. 'Ghost Lead to all stations. We are go for Predator. Mark your targets.' A single suppressed round cracked the night, then another. The sentry crumpled without a sound. Inside, the team moved like shadows, clearing rooms with practiced efficiency—a knife's whisper, a muffled thud. In the final room, the target sat at a desk, hand frozen above an alarm button. The Ghost's rifle spoke once, a wet cough. The mission was complete. They melted back into the rain, leaving only a quiet city and a missing warlord, as if he had never existed.

Reader's Guide

Operation Predator is a mission from Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Predator. The player leads a squad of three Ghost soldiers (from 8 characters across 5 classes: scout, support gunner, marksman, shotgunner, medic) to hunt terrorists in Sri Lankan jungles and bases. The gameplay is a third-person cover-based shooter with tactical squad orders, allowing dynamic switching between all three squad mates. The mission involves investigating a power struggle, taking out Activist bases, assassinating the Teacher, surviving a Loyalist ambush, rescuing Colonel Mitchell after his helicopter is shot down, capturing Dilip Khan, rescuing the President of Sri Lanka, and infiltrating Sunil Ranga's mansion to kill or capture him. The mission matters because it exemplifies the Ghost Recon series' focus on tactical realism and player agency. Success depends on using cover, coordinating fire teams, and making split-second decisions. The mission's outcome ends the hostilities, with the Ghosts reminding Mister Hisan they were 'never here.'
